COUNTY FAIR

(c) Mark Siet 2021

It was a small town way back in the day.

People front porch chilling in their own way.

In such a place time stood still.

Candy store dressmaker an old saw mill.

On Saturday night a local band would play.

Having fun till the break of day.

Good times like this precious and rare

And I remember the county fair.

Nothing’s the same and ain’t that a shame

Ice cream man rings a bell everybody came.

Skimming stones on the lake having fun

Train whistle blows quarter to one.

Been looking for some of my old friends

Hole in my jeans mama mends.

Good times like this precious and rare

And I remember the county fair.

They all say time to be moving on.

Mowing the grass on my front lawn

Where I come from never goes away

In my heart I’ve got something to say.

Good times like this precious and rare

And I remember the county fair.
